Abstract

The social conflict that occurred in Luwuk, Banggai Regency was the first conflict that occurred. A pure criminal case that culminates in a social conflict because of the background of the accumulation of disappointment felt by the indigenous people for migrant residents. This study aims to describe the news frame of social conflict, editorial policy and dominant ideology related to the news of social conflict by the Luwuk Post Daily. The analysis is carried out with a critical paradigm and uses the Critical Discourse Analysis method by Norman Fairclough. Muted Group Theory is used as a theory that explains the silencing of indigenous people in social conflict news. The results of this study indicate that there is a silencing in the reporting of social conflict. In the news text shows the silencing of indigenous people by the Luwuk Post Daily that works through language and is related to editorial policies that do not provide equal opportunities for indigenous people to access the media and the economic interests of the media are preferred. This research is expected to be a reference for the Luwuk Post Daily in writing news about social conflicts to be more balanced and not to marginalize certain groups.
