Abstract
Promotion is a process of altering and giving information toward public that there is product which being offered for sale in a persuasively in order that people are aiming to buy the product. According to the tourist’s data in Semarang City since 2010, tourist were increased but the amount of visitors in some tourist attraction have no stability. Through one of the promotion, to keep increasing number of tourists, the department of culture and tourism semarang city were participated in tourism exhibition at Jogja Expo Centre. Methodology in conducting this research is using descriptive qualitative and also by doing interview toward the employee of Culture and Tourism Department of Semarang City and the stand’s visitor of Semarang City. Research results refer that tourism exhibition of department of culture and tourism semarang city at jogja expo centre were through several stages, that is research-listening from public hearing with the tourism stakeholder, the result, even the visitors in some tourists attraction did not stable but overall the visitors of semarang city were increased in every year. Next, planning-decision, like things that need to be prepared in the exhibition based on standard, job decision and coordination of several parties. The next stage is communication-action that refers to activitiesand altering information which persuade the visitors so that they are interest in visiting tourist destination in Semarang City. Then the result response of the visitors were quite good, they've became interest, because so far they only know popular places, after getting the information it becomes clearer that there so many tourists attractions that hasn't been visited yet, they even want to looking for more information about the tour.
