Abstract

Through a work of Pramoedya Ananta Toer strives to instill his ideas from the fabric of the story. The novel as a work of fiction gives a picture of the lives of the characters in it. As a result of creative work the novel not only convey but also accommodate ideas, theories, and systems of human thinking. The Buru tetralogy comprising the Earth Man, the Son of All Nations, the Footsteps, and the Glass House reveals nationalism. To see the idea of nationalism in Tetralogi Buru the authors use qualitative research methods with data collection techniques are interviews, literature studies, hermeunetics and documentation. The informant in this research is Pramoedya Ananta Toer's younger brother, Soesilo Toer. The result of Pramoedya Ananta Toer's idea of nationalism in the work of "Tetralogy of Buru" is an indigenous struggle against the injustices of colonialism in Indonesian. Indigenous resistance is increasingly organized with the formation of a union.
