Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengetahuan dan persepsi mahasiswa tentang sustainable development guna menjelaskan hubungannya dengan perilaku pro-lingkungan di kalangan mahasiswa. Survey dilaksanakan dengan melibatkan 364 mahasiswa di sebuah perguruan tinggi negeri di Semarang. Adapun informasi yang dikumpulkan melalui survey meliputi pengetahuan dasar dan terkait sustainable development, persepsi mahasiswa tentang indikator-indikator sustainable development dan enam aspek perilaku pro-lingkungan seperti konservasi energi, transportasi & mobilitas, menghindari limbah, daur ulang, konsumerisme dan perilaku-perilaku lain yang terkait konservasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui bahwa pengetahuan dan persepsi tentang sustainable development memiliki hubungan yang positif dengan perilaku pro-lingkungan. Secara umum hubungan yang sangat lemah antar masing-masing variabel di atas dimungkinkan oleh banyaknya faktor-faktor lain yang terlibat pada perilaku pro-lingkungan suatu individu. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan suatu asumsi penting bahwa untuk mendeskripsikan perilaku pro-lingkungan perlu menyertakan semua faktor (internal dan eskternal) secara bersamaan. Kata Kunci: Pengetahuan, Persepsi, Sustainable development, Perilaku Pro-Lingkungan, Mahasiswa This study sought to understand sustainable development knowledge and perceptions among undergraduate students to explain the relationship between students’ knowledge and perception of sustainable development with their pro-environmental behavior. The survey completed by over 364 undergraduate students from a state university in Semarang. Its collected information about students’ basic and relate knowledge of sustainable development, their perception towards sustainable development indicators and six aspect of their pro-environmental behavior, e.g., energy conservation, mobility transportation, waste avoidance, recycling, consumerism, and vicarious behaviors toward conservation. The findings indicate that knowledge and perception about sustainable development have a positive relationship to pro-environmental behavior. Generally, a very weak relationship between the variables is possible cause many other factors are involved. These findings offer an important assumption that to describe pro-environmental behavior we need to include both factors (internal and external) at the same time.
