Abstract
One of the plants that have the potential to be used as alternative fuel producer is Palm plant (ElaeisGuineensis). Palm plant has the potential to produce palm seed oil, especially kernel old seed. Oil content in the kernel seeds reach 46–54%. Fats and oils can be obtained from the extraction of animal or plant tissue in three ways, namely rendering, pressing or with a solvent. Two common ways in which mechanical presses hydraulic presses (hydraulic pressing) and pressing threaded (screw pressing). Hidraulic pressing need pre-treatment consists of the sorting process and heating. The purpose of this research is to study the effect of pressure and temperature of kernel seed oil yield. Kernel seeds are cleaned of feces and then heated with variable temperature 70˚C , 85˚C , 100˚C and variable pressure of 110 kg/cm2, 130 kg/cm2, 150 kg/cm2 . Of the overall parameters, variables approached SNI contained in the heating temperature of 100 ° C and a pressure of 130 kg/cm2, with a water content of 0.2%, density of 0,952 gr/cm3, viscosity 144.033 Cp Keywords: Kernel, Kernel seed oil, Hidraulic press
