Abstract

Background: Dental anxiety is still being a problem to be conserned and it must be found a way out to solve it. Many things that can be stressor of dental anxiety such as visually, auditory, and environment condition. Beside that, there are many ways we can be used to reduce it. One of them is distraction with music teraphy. Aim: To compare the therapy effect between Mozart classic music and pop instrumental music on patient’s dental anxiety during odontectomy. Methods: This study was a clinical experimental studies with non-randomized post test only group design. Subjects were collected by consecutive sampling with total subjects were 32 odontectomy patients aged 18-50 years old in Diponegoro National Hospital. Subjects were divided into two treatment groups such as group that given by Mozart Clasic music and group that given by instrumental pop music. Patient’s dental anxiety were assessed with Dental Anxiety Scale (DAS) and the data were analyzed using independent t-test. Result: It showed unsignificant effect between group that given by Mozart Clasic music compared of pop instrumental music with p > 0,05 ( p = 0,640 ). Conclusion: There was no significant effect between group that given by Mozart Clasic music and pop instrumental music in odontectomy patient’s dental anxiety.
