Abstract

Spectrophotometer is an instrument used to measure the absorbance of a solution. The principle works is by passing light with specific wavelengths in the sample in the cuvette. The light will be absorbed and the rest will be missed. Value absorbance of light that is passed will be proportional to the concentration of the solution in the cuvette. In this study, does validate method of analysis lycopene with visible spectrophotometer, was then used for analysis of lycopene content in tomato (lycopersicon esculentum L). Lycopene or α-carotene is a bright red carotenoid pigmen, a fitochemichal which can be found in tomato and other red fruit. From these results it can be concluded that the greater of ratio F/S, then the lycopene concentration will increase, so does the level of lycopene in the sample. For warming temperatures, higher heating temperature, the higher lycopene concentration, as well as the levels of glucose in the sample. Percent average error contained, each of which is equal to 42,57%, 37%, 45,2%, 46,9%, and 7,26%. Keywords: Spectrophotometer visible, lycopene, lycopersicon esculentum L, Content.
