Abstract

Background : Determine VO2Max rate is a way to measure cardiorespiratory endurance. Zumba is a popular type of excersice in Indonesia. It has several classes, including aqua zumba and zumba. The difference between them is the media of the exercise, which aqua zumba is done in the water. Aim : To know the difference of VO2Max rate between aqua zumba and zumba gymnasts group. Method : This research was quasi experimental study using samples of aqua zumba and zumba gymnasts group (n=16 for each group). The VO2Max rate was measured using Queen’s College Step Test. The data were analyzed with Independent T- Test. Result : The mean VO2Max rate of aqua zumba gymnasts group is 39,07±2,94 with the minimum rate is 33,3 ml/kg/minute and the maximum rate 42,17 ml/kg/minute. The mean VO2Max rate of zumba gymnasts group is 38,12±1,91 with the minimum rate is 35,51 ml/kg/menit and the maximum rate 42.91 ml/kg/minute. The mean VO2Max rate of aqua zumba gymnasts group is higher than zumba gymnasts group. Conclusion : The mean VO2Max rate of aqua zumba gymnasts group s higher than zumba gymnasts group but the difference is not statistically significant. Keywords : Aqua zumba, zumba, VO2Max
