Banyumas Cultural Center

Abstract

Banyumas cultural locus has different characteristics from Javanese society in general, namely the basis of popular life which is egalitarianism, anti-structure, democracy, and openness. The development of a cultural center that conceptualizes the centralization and place of appreciation for various forms of Banyumas culture in one location in an urban area is important in building the city's image and facilitating the cultural activities of the Banyumas community. Development of the Banyumas cultural center building that adopts the concept of urban public space opens to maximize the positive activities of the city to prevent it from spreading the saturation point of city activity. The context of the development of the Cultural Center which is rooted in tradition by an ethnographic approach in analyzing the activity space in it will maximize the space that respects the cultural activities of the city in a good public space. The constellation of the development of cultural centers in a good urban public space will open up the inclusiveness of cultural activities not only developed by cultural activists but also the entire city community.
