Abstract
Effectiveness of Mindfulness Training on Increasing Caring Attitudes among Nurses in Inpatient Wards in RSUD K. R.M. T Wongsonegoro Semarang xxx + 77 pages + 11 tables + 3 schemes + 13 appendixes Caring is seen as the basis of the nursing profession, which provides a framework for guidelines in nursing practice and becomes an essential component of patient satisfaction in health services. Caring, which is not adequately performed by nurses, may reduce the level of patient satisfaction, which will further affect the decrease in the quality of hospital services. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of mindfulness training on increasing caring attitudes among nurses in inpatient wards. This study employed a pre-post quasi-experimental design with a control group. The samples were 109 staff nurses recruited using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using CBI Wolf (1988) questionnaire, which had been translated into Indonesian to measure the nurses’ caring behavior and were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed an increase in caring attitudes behavior among the nurses after the implementation of mindfulness training with p-value = 0.003, which means that mindfulness training is effective in increasing caring attitudes for nurses. Furthermore, caring behavior in the intervention group showed a Z-score of -3.000 with p-value = 0.003 (p<0.05). This study concluded that mindfulness training was effective in increasing caring attitudes among the nurses in the inpatient wards. Mindfulness training can be used as one of the methods implemented by the hospital to improve caring among the nurses.
