Abstract

Mass media, including radio, have news or information products to convey to the public. Because it uses public frequency, in accordance with the regulations and legislation concerning the press, radio has a function as a medium of information, education, entertainment, and social control. The information packaging is presented through a series of news texts read by the broadcaster to reach the listener audience. Likewise in political events, through news texts, listeners receive information that has been constructed by the media. This research is descriptive qualitative using a constructivistic paradigm. The authors used the analysis of framing Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki to analyze news texts in the "Indonesia dalam Berita" program which was broadcast on MNC Trijaya FM and 15 radio networks throughout Indonesia. The study was conducted on 26 news from 61 news that aired on the program and selected themes related to the 2019 presidential election. The results of the study show that the MNC Trijaya FM coverage with the theme around the 2019 presidential candidate has not been fully neutral. MNC Trijaya FM provides a different space by taking part in one of the candidates in the 2019 presidential election. Representation of presidential candidate Joko Widodo is reported to be more positive than presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto. This representation of an imbalanced presidential candidate contradicts the concept of media neutrality and the principle of media journalistic professionalism.
