Abstract

Putro, Ananto Rizki. “Factor that Drives the Character Shouya Ishida’s Act of Ijime in the Anime Koe no Katachi Directed by Naoko Yamada”. Thesis, Study Program Japanese Language and Culture, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Counsellor Fajria Noviana, S.S., M.Hum. Koe no Katachi is an anime that tells about a normal young man named Shouya Ishida and a girl with disabilities named Shouko Nishimiya. The aim of this research is to analyze the factor that drives Shouya Ishida to commit ijime to Shouko Nishimiya in the anime Koe no Katachi. The method that is used in this research is analytical descriptive method supported by literature study. The approach that is used in this research is narrative, and psychological approaches. Narrative approach is used to analyze the relation to space and time, Koe no Katachi’s character, problems and conflicts. Literature psychology approach with the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory is used to analyze the factor that drives character Shouya Ishida to commit ijime. The result of this research is the invention of a certain factor that drives the character of Shouya Ishida to commit ijime, which is the need of self-actualization is not fulfilled that causes some psychological illness and will drive him to do bad things. The conclusion is the main reason why Shouya Ishida commited ijime was because he lack of education about B values, such as value of justice, and goodness to achieve better potential or self-actualization.
