PEMBERDAYAAN PEREMPUAN PADA SEKTOR EKONOMI MELALUI SINETRON TUKANG BUBUR NAIK HAJI

Abstract

This thesis discusses the empowerment of women in the economic sector through the soap opera Tukang Bubur Naik Haji based on the results of the Central Bureau of Statistics of 2014 survey states that women are economically powerless. Through Rumi's character this research attempts to dismantle the dominant ideology toward gender equality through the second wave of feminism. This research uses Roland Barthes semiotics method in the framework of critical paradigm using standpoint theory and second wave of feminism (liberal feminism) the basic assumption used is John Lock's doctrine of natural rights, that every human being has the right to live , got the freedom and right to seek happiness. The result of the research shows the empowerment of women in economic, education and work sector. Soap Opera Tukang Bubur Naik Haji has successfully dismantled the domestication of women toward gender equality through the point of view of liberal feminism.
