Abstract
This research departs from the rampant cases of verbal violence that occurs among teenagers. One of the most popular public television programs and get high rating is a stand up comedy entertainment program in which there are many elements of violence that is wrapped with comedy so it is considered normal. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation of stand up comedy viewing intensity, age, and sex with verbal violence behavior in adolescents. The theories used in this study are the Social Learning Theory (Albert Learning) from Albert Bandura and the Social Category Theory from DeFlleur and Ball Rokeach. This research is an explanatory research with quantitative approach. The population of stand up comedy viewers aged 12-25 years with total respondents amounted to 60 people, which is determined by nonrandom sampling technique that is purposive sampling. In hypothesis test using chi square analysis and Kendall analysis. The result of research indicate that there is no correlation between intensity of watching stand up comedy with verbal violence behavior on adolescent based on sig value 0,363 (> 0,05). Age have no significant association with verbal abuse behavior in adolescents based on the acquisition of sig 0,506 (> 0,05). Sex were not significantly associated with verbal abuse behavior in adolescents based on the acquisition of sig 0,117 (> 0,05). The conclusions of this study were either the intensity of watching stand up comedy, age, and sex shows no correlation with verbal abuse behavior in adolescence.
