Abstract
The development of the technology which more sophisticated affected humans who previously used to do self-disclosure with direct face-to-face communication, nowadays do that by social media YouTube with VideoBlog (VLOG) content as one of the ways. Vlog become one of the trends that is followed by many Indonesian societies, even President Joko Widodo also create a vlog. This research focuses on the uses of mix methods with qualitative method as the main method, and quantitative method as complementary method. The main theory that is used in this research is Communication Privacy Management. Collecting data technique was conducted with quantitative content analysis and in-depth interview. This study was conducted on five vloggers and five vlogs. The result of the research shows that when a person do self-disclosure, there are seven things that is found by the researcher such as: (1) self disclosure theme, (2) self disclosure character, (3) self identity, (4) self disclosure focus, (5) privacy aspect, (6) emotional tone, (7) a place of openness. Based on those seven things, it can be concluded that self-disclosure which is done by the vlogger discuss about love story, job, and education. Beside self-disclosure context itself, this study also found that motivation from the vlogger to do self-disclosure is: (1) place of escape from bad experiences, (2) place of sharing, (3) self-purification media, (4) seeking emotional support, (5) documentation media. The response of other people to the vlogger’s self-disclosure is positive and negative. But the vlogger told that they got more positive response rather than negative response at the time they do self-disclosure through social media
