ABSTRACT Akbar Bontang, Adhitya. “The Comparison of Sadako Ghost and Kuntilanak Ghost in The Ring Movie and Kuntilanak Movie”. Thesis. Departement of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The first advisor, Drs. M. Hermintoyo, M. Pd. The second advisor, Budi Mulyadi, S.Pd., M.Hum. Japan and Indonesia are countries that have a lot of ghost stories. That ghost stories is used as a theme for several movies. The research aims to know the comparison of Sadako ghost from Japan in The Ring movie with Kuntilanak ghost from Indonesia in Kuntilanak movie. The research was used see and record methods. Data sources from The Ring movie of 1998 and Kuntilanak movie of 2006. This research result is produce seven conclusions. (1) Similar and difference shapes of Sadako ghost in The Ring movie and Kuntilanak ghost in Kuntilanak movie; (2) Similar and difference characters of Sadako ghost in The Ring movie and Kuntilanak ghost in Kuntilanak movie; (3) Similar and difference curses of Sadako ghost in The Ring movie and Kuntilanak ghost in Kuntilanak movie; (4) Similar and difference mediations of Sadako ghost in The Ring movie and Kuntilanak ghost in Kuntilanak movie; (5) Similar and difference manifestation of Sadako ghost in The Ring movie and Kuntilanak ghost in Kuntilanak movie; (6) Concept of comprehension movie characters in The Ring movie to Sadako ghost (7) Concept of comprehension movie characters in Kuntilanak movie to Kuntilanak ghost Keyword : Ghost, Sadako, Kuntilanak, Movie
