Abstract
This paper aims atdescribing how the host of “Indonesia Lawyers Club” talk show uses questions to control turn-taking process and to form public opinion through the forms and the functions of the questions he or she uses. Through bottom-up approach, the data were analyzed based on theories of media interaction, and theories of the forms and the functions of questions..The results of the study show that there are certain forms of questions used by the host of Indonesia Lawyers Club to elicit response, to control the topic of the talk, to confirm, to ask for information, and to form public opinion. Overall, the questions function to elicit verbal response and the forms and the functions of the questions influence the turn taking process, the control of the topic, and the formation of public opinion.
