Abstract

Background: the smoke caused the burning of cigarettes have high levels of free radicals that each hirupannya. This can lead to a potentially damaging oxidative stress of cells, cells of hepar is no exception. In order to reduce free radicals in the body of excess exogenous antioxidants needed. One source i.e. Red Ginger (Zingiber Oficinale Var. Rubrum. To assess the damage the cell enzyme transaminase levels used hepar i.e. AST and ALT. Objective: to know the influence of extracts of Red Ginger (Zingiber Oficinale Var. Rubrum) against blood levels of AST and ALT of rats after exposure to cigarette smoke Methods: this research method using true experimental design with post test only control group design in mice males. Sample research as much as 24 rats were divided into 4 groups with a different treatment. The treatment given, namely by giving red ginger root extract (Zingiber Oficinale Var. Rubrum) 200 mg/day and the granting of kgBB/exposure to cigarette smoke twice a day, while output is the level of AST and ALT on blood of rats. Results: Do a test of Kruskal-Wallis produce blood levels of AST's interpretation, there is a difference levels of AST which are not meaningful in 4 groups with a value of P = 0,218. As for the ALT data and has a Gaussian of variance homogeneity of data with a value of P = 0,517. Testing different ANOVA results obtained using meaningless with value significance P = 0,674. Conclusion: there is no meaningful influence awarding of Red Ginger (Zingiber Oficinale Var. Rubrum) against blood levels of AST and ALT of rats after exposed to cigarette smoke. Keywords: Red ginger Extract, exposure to cigarette smoke, the levels of AST and ALT
