ABSTRACT Santoso, Ameliyana Putri. 2016. “The Message of Miyazaki Hayao’s Animation Movie Mononoke Hime from Audience’s Perspective (The Literary Reception Study)”, Thesis, Department of Japanese Studies Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. The advisor. Fajria Noviana, SS, M. Hum. Mononoke Hime is one of famous animation movies in Japan, and produced by Ghibli production Miyazaki Hayao’s. This Mononoke Hime animation has a very interesting story and environmental conflicts containing a lot of message which are very useful to be applied in real life. The writer did this research to know the message of Mononoke Hime animation from the audience’s perspective. Therefore the writer used literary reception and structural. The method for obtaining data is by distributing questionnaires to 30 respondents. The questionnaire contains open questions to get objective answer from audience and for the method of administering is used face to face administered. Questionnaire started from March 15th 2016 until July 1st 2016. Through this thesis research we can know that audience got message by watching Mononoke Hime animation. The conclusion we can get from respondents is that as social beings we have to be responsible for what we have done, do any given job, and get rid of our selfish manner in socializing with other people and protect nature which becomes a home for human and animals.
