Abstract

Background: Fungal infection at skin usually occur to people who live in tropical country like Indonesia. One of them is dandruff. Dandruff is a disease in head skin with skuama or white or grey scale as symptoms in variation of numbers. The traffic police has higher risk in dandruff. This study want to prove the number of dandruff happen and its risk factor in traffic police in Semarang. Methods: This study method is cross sectional with 58 subjects of traffic police in Semarang in May 2016. Diagnosis of dandruff was done by dermatologist resident who taken the head skin scrape. The data was taken with quesioner about personal higiene and place where the polices save their hat. The analysis used logistic regretion test with significancy p>0,05; confidence interval is 95%. Results: This study results 14 of 58 traffic police in Semarang diagnosed dandruff. From the results of quesioner analysis about personal higiene (p=0,145) and the place where the police save their hat (p=0,750) by statistic there are not significant because p>0,05. Conclusion: The prevalence of dandruff in traffic police in Semarang is 24,1%. Personal higiene is bad and the place where the police save their hat is not the risk factor of dandruff in traffic police in Semarang.
