Abstract

Nursing Science Department University of Diponegoro Faculty of Medicine Semarang, Juni 2016 ABSTRACT Retno Romauli Risa Putri “Nurse's Perception Towards Competence Development For Career Level In Long Stay Ward Of Semarang City Hospital” xvi + 79 pages + 13 tables + 4 pictures + 15 enclosures Regional examination for nurse is a process to measure the knowledge, skills and attitudes of health care personnel in accordance with the standards of the profession. Regional examination for nurse carried out to produce a competent nurse so career development of nurses will be held. Based on the results of a test of competency, the competency profiles nurses formulated according to a certain level and decide the feasibility of nurses. So the placement of nurses at the appropriate level, with his expertise through competence provide the opportunity more in line with the ability of potential nurses. The purpose of this research was to know the perceptions of nurses towards competence for career development. This research was quantitative descriptive research. Measuring instrument used a questionnaire. sample retrieval technique used a purposive sampling. The respondents in this research were 108 people nurses in long stay ward Semarang city Hospital. The results showed as much perception of nurses towards competency tests for the development of a good career level that was 74.1 % , stage stimulation on either perception was 97.2 % , the stage of registration to good perception was 56.5 % , stage interpretation of good perception was 59 , 3 % , stage feedback on good perception was 51.9 % . This research recommends that the hospital 's attention to elements of competency that the difference of each level either through a system of promotion and awards then suggest nurses to be active by trying to get the latest information about the competency test and a career level or follow coaching that can increase the understanding of nurses concerning test competency and career.
