HUBUNGAN KEBUTUHAN SPIRITUAL DENGAN KUALITAS HIDUP PADA LANSIA DI PANTI WREDHA KOTA SEMARANG

Abstract

The number of elderly is increasing every year, this raises various problems for the elderly, one of them is about spiritual needs. A good spiritual needs will help the elderly to face reality, to take an active role in life, and to find the meaning of their existence and purpose in life. Spiritual needs is one of the parameters that can affect the relationship between the spiritual needs and the life quality of the elderly. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between the spiritual needs and the life quality of the elderly in nursing homes in Semarang. This study was a quantitative non-experimental descriptive correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used is consecutive sampling method with 140 elderly people at Panti Wredha Harapan Ibu, PSTW Bethany, Panti Wredha Pucang Gading and Wisma Harapan Asri Lansia Semarang. The results of chi-square statistical test showed that there is a significant relationship between spiritual needs with the life quality of the elderly in nursing home in Semarang (p value = 0.001; p value <0.05). Elderly people is expected to have their spiritual needs fulfilled to create an optimal quality of life. Keywords : Elderly, Nursing Home, Spiritual Needs, Quality of Life
