Abstract

Feminism Undone: Stereotipisasi Perempuan dalam Sinetron Tukang Bubur naik Haji, the Series (TBNH) Abstrak Sistem dan struktur sosial yang menerapkan ideologi kapitalisme patriarki telah melahirkan perbedaan gender yang menempatkan perempuan pada posisi inferior dan subordinat. Perbedaan ini dikonstruksi, disosialisasikan, dan diperkuat oleh berbagai institusi, termasuk sinetron televisi yang disebut sebagai genre perempuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisa semiotika Roland Barthes dalam kerangka paradigma kritis dengan pendekatan teori utama Feminisme Marxis Sosialis untuk mengungkap praktik stereotipisasi terhadap perempuan dan gerakan backlash yang dilakukan ideologi dominan untuk mempertahankan dominasi dan melakukan kontrol terhadap perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perempuan ditampilkan secara stereotipikal berdasarkan konvensi tradisional mengenai feminitas, yang mana status dan peran utama perempuan adalah istri dan ibu, dan wilayah domestik merupakan dunia utama bagi perempuan. Selain patriarki dan kapitalisme, Islam merupakan ideologi lain yang mempengaruhi penggambaran tersebut. Media telah menjadi salah satu agen ke-saleh-an dalam gerakan Islamisasi yang muncul secara masif pasca tumbangnya era Soeharto. Teknik backlash yang digunakan dalam sinetron Islami TBNH adalah ditampilkannya perempuan yang cakap dalam berbagai peran dan bidang, melalui fashion, dan kecantikan. Kata kunci: perempuan, sinetron religi, stereotipisasi, ideologi dominan, backlash, Islamisasi Feminism Undone: Stereotyped of Women on Soap Opera Titled Tukang Bubur naik Haji, the Series (TBNH) Abstract System and social structure which applied capitalism patriarchy ideology has resulted in gender differentiation that place women in inferior and subordinate position. This difference was constructed, socialized, and reinforced by various institutions, including television soap operas which known as the women’s genre. This study used Roland Barthes’s semiotic analysis technique under critical paradigm and Marxist Socialist Feminism as the main theoritical framework to reveal the stereotyping against women and the backlash managed by dominat ideology to maintain their dominance and take control over women. The result of this study showed that women depicted stereotypical based on the traditional conventions of femininity, which the main status and role of women are wives and mothers, and domestic area is the major world for women. In addition to patriarchy and capitalism, Islam is another ideology influencing the depiction. Media has become one of the piety-agent to Islamisation that emerged massively after the fall of Soeharto’s era. Backlash techniques used in TBNH Islamic’s soap opera were women depicted capable in various roles and sectors, through fashion, and beauty.
