Abstract
Background: Increasingly high numbers of the heart valve surgery is now because of people's lifestyles that cause degenerative risks. One of its management is changing heart valve through surgery. The patient's mortality datas are used as the parametes to measure the quality of heart valve surgery in a hospital. Aim: To find out data on mortality in cardiac surgery department in a case of heart valve surgery in Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang from January 1𝑠𝑡 2014- December 31𝑠𝑡 2014. Methods: This study is a retrospective descriptive study, with random sampling, using secondary data from medical records of the Medical Record Department, ICU (Intensive Care Unit) and Installation of Central Surgery Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang from January 1𝑠𝑡 2014- December 31𝑠𝑡 2014. Data are classified by the type of operation such as: the AVR (Aortic Valve Replacement), MVR (Mitral Valve Replacement) and DVR (Double Valve Replacement) by looking at mortality risk factors: gender, age, disease diagnosis, CPB time, cross-clamp time, longer ICU stay, length of ICU ventilators and cause of death. Result: The number of patients of heart valve surgery in Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang on January 1𝑠𝑡 2014- December 31𝑠𝑡 2014 were as many as 57 people. The number of patients who died was 9 people (15.8%). Most cause of death was septic shock. The type of the heart valve surgery with the highest mortality lift is the DVR, while the highest success rates in the MVR operation. Conclusion: During the period of January 1𝑠𝑡 2014- December 31𝑠𝑡 2014, the death rate of the heart valve surgery at the Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang was 15.8% with 0% in AVR operations, 12.9% in MVR and 27.8% in DVR operation.
