Abstract
Background : Most cases of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome are idiopathic. The dimensions of the hand and wrist is an important factor in the development of CTS. Aim : Knowing the difference of hand ratio and wrist ratio between CTS and normal people. Methods : This research is an observational research with cross sectional approach. The amount of subject in this study is 22, which consists of 11 patients with CTS and 11 patients whitout CTS. For data analysis, it uses unpaired t test and Mann-Whitney test. Results : The mean of hand ratio in CTS respondents is 2.19 ± 0.08, while in the non-CTS respondents is 2.27 ± 0.06. There is a significant difference of hand ratio between CTS and normal (p = 0.017). The mean of wrist ratio in CTS respondents is 0.78 ± 0.06, while in the non-CTS respondents is 0.71 ± 0.03. There is a significant difference of wrist ratio between CTS and normal (p = 0.002). Conclusion : The hand ratio of CTS patients is different from the normal. The hand ratio in CTS patients is smaller than normal people. The wrist ratio of CTS patients is different from the normal. The ratio of the wrist in patients with CTS is larger than normal. Keywords : Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), hand ratio, wrist ratio
