HUBUNGAN GANGGUAN TIDUR TERHADAP PRESTASI BELAJAR PADA REMAJA USIA 12-15 TAHUN DI SEMARANG: STUDI PADA SISWA SMP N 5 SEMARANG

Abstract

Background: Learning is an important thing for students as it can result in a change which can be assessed by the result of the study namely academic performance. Sleep disturbance occur very often in adolescents and it is one of the factors that can influence academic performance. Aim: To analyze the relation between sleep disturbance and academic performance in students aged 12-15 years in SMP N 5 Semarang. Methods: Observational analytic study with cross sectional design was conducted on students of SMP N 5 Semarang during April to June 2015. The Sleep Disturbance Scale for Children (SDSC) questionnaire filled out by parents. Academic performance were taken from school database. The data obtained were analyzed using bivariate Chi-square test. Results: The whole subject amounting to 140 people consisted of 45 male students and 95 female students. A total of 109 (77.86%) students had sleep disturbance. Most are in the age distribution of 14 years amounting to 122 students (87.14%). Statistical test results did not showed significant differences between sleep disturbance and academic achievement of math (p=0,919), science (p=0,655), Indonesian (p=0,946), and English (p=0.295). Conclusions: There is no relation between sleep disturbance and academic performance in students adolescents aged 12-15 years in SMP N 5 Semarang.
