Abstract
Background : Syzygium polyanthum contained atsiri oil, tannin, flavonoid and alkaloid have an important role as an immunomodulation. S.tphimurium is an intracelluler bacteria, that is why it is needed a role from a celluler immun response; in this case it is played by a macrophage. Objective : A proof about the effect of giving syzygium polyanthum extract in any dosages into the increase of macrophages activities in Balb/C mice infected by S. Typhimurium. Method : The research design is the post test only control group design. Twenty four mice infected by S. Typhimurium are divided randomly into 4 groups : the control (k) is not given the extracts and P1, P2, P3 given syzygium polyanthum extracts 0,24; 2,4; 24 mg / day for 10 days. Kruskal wallis is used to test the fagositosis macrophages ability while oneway anova test is for NO macrophage value. Result : Fagositosis macrophages ability is stated as a fagositosis macrophages index, a significant distinction found among the control and P1(0,024), P2(0,004), P3(0,016); P1 with P2(0,004); P2 with P3(0,004). There is not a significant distinction between P1 and P3(0,628). With NO macrophage value has a significant distinction in the control and P2(0,000); P3(0,000), but there is not a signifcant distinction in the control with P1(0,076); P1 with P2(0,178); P1 with P3(0,870) and P2 with P3 (0,151). Conclusion : Syzygium polyanthum extracts improve fagositosis macrophages ability and macrophages value. Key word : Syzygium polyanthum, macrophages activity
