Abstract

Zeolit merupakan material alam yang mempunyai rongga dan luas permukaan tertentu yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai adsorben. Selektifitas dan kemampuan adsorpsi dari zeolit alam dapat ditingkatkan dengan melakukan modifikasi terhadap permukaan zeolit alam tersebut. Salah satu cara modifikasi permukaan zeolit alam dapat dilakukan dengan mengimpregnasikan 2-merkaptobenzotiazol (MBT) pada zeolit alam tersebut. Sebelum impregnasi. MBT terhadap zeolit alam, terlebih dahulu zeolit alam di'dealuminasi melalui pemanasan (80°C) dalam campuran Kivin04-H2SO4, H.2SO4 diikuti penambahan HCl selama total waktu 12 jam. Zeolit basil perlakuan dealuminasi dirtendam dalam polistirena yang dilarutkan dalam kloroform untuk selanjutnya diimpregnasi dengan MBT yang dilarutkan dalam aseton. Zeolit yang telah dimodifikasi digunakan sebagai adsorben untuk adsorpsi indigo carmine dengan metode batch-shaker selama 30 inenit dengan kecepatan 200 rpm. Karakterisasi zeolit basil modifikasi dilakukan .dengan spektrofotometer FTIR dan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Banyaknya indigo carmine yang teradsorpsi ditentukan dengan spektrofotometer UV-Vis. Dan hasil analisis spektrofotometer UV-Vis dan spektrofotometer FTIR menunjukkan bahwa impregnasi MBT pada zeolit alam telah berhasil dilakukan. Adsorpsi optimum indigo carmine dengan menggunakan adsorben MBT-zeolit adalah 93,3%, sedangkan dengan adsorben zeolit alam adalah 62,2 Zeolite represent nature material having cavity and size measure certain pore which can be used as adsorbent. Selectivity and ability Adsorption from experienced zeolite earn improved by modification of surface on the natural zeolite. One way of modification of experienced zeolite surface earn conducted with impregnating 2-mercaptobenzothiazole ( MBT) on the natural zeolite. Preparation has been conducted with dealumination through warm-up (80 °C) KMnO4-H2SO4 mixture followed by HC1 addition of during totalizeing time 12 hours. The material obtained soaked in polystyrene dissolved in chloroform henceforth irnpregnation with MBT dissolved in acetone. Zeolite result obtained of modification here in after. Zeolite which the modification have used as adsorbent for adsorption of indigo carmine by batch-shaker method during 30 minute with speed 200 rpm. Characterization of zeolite before and after impregnation was done by FT1R spectrophotometer and UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The number of indigo carmine Were adsorpted which determined with UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The analysis research has been done by FTIR spectrophotometer and UV-Vis spectrophotometer indicated that modification of natural zeolite has been made by impregnating 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) is succesful. Optimum adsorption of indigo carmine by using adsorbent MBT-Zeolit is 93,3%, while with adsorbent natural zeolite is 62,2%. %.
