Abstract
Logam tembaga dengan kemurnian lebih dari 99,99% termasuk golongan tembaga kualitas' fungsional tinggi dan keberadaannya sangat strategis dalam berbagai bidang. Oleh karena itu, perlu dikembangkan , usaha penyediaan tembaga kualitas fungsional tinggi. Peniumian tembaga dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai metoda, diantaranya: metoda destruksi, ataupun inetoda elektrokimiawi. Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh rapat arus.terhadap pemurnian tembaga dengan metoda elektroanalisis. Elektrolisis merupakan proses elektrokimiawi yang membutuhkan energi listrik dari luar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh rapat arus terhadap pemumian tembaga secara elektrokimiawi sehingga diperoleh metoda yang efektif untuk memurnian tembaga agar kualitas logam .tembaga dapat ditingkatkan. Proses elektrolisis tembaga dilakukan pada rapat arus sebesar: 4; 5; 6; 7 dan 8 mA/cm2, dengan mempertahanlcan waktu elektrolisis. Pengendapan pertama pada rapat arus sebesar 4 mA/cm2 diperoleh endapan tembaga sebanyak 6,5 mg dengan kemurnian sebesar 77,1%. Pengendapan tembaga pada rapat arus sebesar 8 mA/cm2 diperoleh endapan tembaga sebanyak 13,1 mg dengan kemurnian 99,6%.. Dari basil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa semakin besar rapat arus maka semakin banyak endapan tembaga yang terdapat pada katoda. Uji kualitas dengan AAS menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar rapat arus maka kemurnian semakin meningkat. Copper with percent of purity 99,99% is classified into high functional quality and is very important in many fields. So it is necessary to develop effort to provide 'such high functional quality of copper. Copper can be purified with various methods, such as: destruction and electrochemical methods. The effect of current density on copper purification had been examined using electroanalysis method. Electrolysis is an electrochemical process which • need electric power as the source of energy. This research was aimmed to reveal the effect of current density on an electrochemical copper purification process to obtain the effective method in enhance copper metal quality. The copper electrolysis was con ducted at current density of 4; 5; 6; 7 and 8 mA/cm2 while the time was maintained constant:. There was 6,5 mg copper precipitate obtained at the .first precipitation in which current density was 4 mA/cm7- and the purity was 77,1%. In the second precipitation at which the current density was 8 mA/cm21he precipitate as high as 13,1 mg was obtained with, percent of 99,6%. From the result known that the higher current density would give more copper precipitate. The quality of the precipitate was analysed using AAS and it was showed the higher current density gave higher purity.
