Abstract
Selulosa merupakan polimer alam yang banyak dibutuhkan dalam berba¬gai bidang kehidupan. Telah dilakukan biosintesa bioselulosa Nata de Soya dalam medium limbah cair tahu yang dilanjutkan dengan proses merserisasi untuk mem¬perbaiki strukturnya. Proses merserisasi dilakukan dengan merendam lembaran bioselulosa Nata de Soya dalam larutan NaOH menggunakan variasi konsentrasi 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 30% dan 40% b/v. Bioselulosa kering dianalisis krista¬linitasnya dengan menggunakan difraktometer sinar-x dan kekuatan regangnya dengan menggunakan loader. Hasil analisis menunjukkan terjadi perubahan kristalinitas yang dapat di¬amati dari kenaikan intensitas spektra yang terjadi pada sudut 20; 14,7; 17,0; 20,68 dan 23,6. Kekuatan regang meningkat dari 18,633 KPa untuk bioselulosa Nata de Soya tanpa merserisasi menjadi 1,208 MPa setelah merserisasi dengan NaOH 40% b/v, Dengan demikian bioselulosa dapat dihasilkan dari biopolimerisasi dengan media limbah cair tahu dan kenaikan konsentrasi NaOH menyebabkan mening¬katnya kristalinitas bioselulosa Nata de Soya sehingga kekuatan regangnya men-j adi semakin tinggi. Cellulose is a natural polymer that much needed at many fields. The re¬search about nata de soya biocellulose biosynthesis in medium of liquid tofu waste that followed with mercerization process to change its structure has been done. The mercerization process was done by immersing nata de soya biocellulose sheet in sodium hydroxide solution with variation of concentration, that are 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 30% and 40% w/v. The crystalinity of dried nata de soya biocellulose was analyzed by x-ray diffraction and the tensile strength was ana¬lyzed by loader. The x-ray diffraction of nata de soya biocellulose sheet produced peaks at 20 angles of 143; 17.0; 203; 23.6 and the intensities were increased by the in¬crease of sodium hydroxide concentration, Tensile strength values increase from 18.633 KPa for untreated biocellulose to 1,208 MPa for biocellulose that treated with 40% NaOH. In summary, biocellulose can be produced from biopolymersation in liquid tofu waste medium. The increasing of NaOH concentration caused the increase of nata de soya biocellulose crystalinity so the tensile strength become higher.
