Abstract

Sintesis katalis Mo-Co/y-Al203 telah dilakukan dengan metode impregnasi basah bertahap, yaitu perendaman penyangga y-Al203 dalam larutan garam prekursor (NH4)6Mo7024.4H20 dan Co(NO3)2.6H20. Proses perendaman ini bertujuan agar molekul-molekul garam prekursor terdispersi ke dalam penyangga y-Al203 melalui adsorpsi dan difusi. Impregnasi diikuti dengan langkah pengeringan dan kalsinasi. Variabel sintesis yang ditinjau adalah konsentrasi awal larutan untuk impregnasi yang dilihat pengaruhnya terhadap nilai koefisien difusi dan kandungan oksida logam dalam katalis. Dalam penelitian ini waktu impregnasi, berat penyangga serta kondisi pengeringan dan kalsinasi dibuat tetap. Uji aktivitas katalis dilakukan terhadap katalis dengan komposisi MoO3 15 % b/b, CoO 4,2 % b/b menggunakan alat catatest unit dalam reaksi hidrodesulfurisasi kerosin. Hasil perhitungan nilai koefisien difusi (D) menunjukkan dalam impregnasi I nilai D maksimum pada konsentrasi Mo dalam larutan awal garam prekursor 9 %(b/v) dan kandungan MoO3 10,39 % (b/b), sedangkan dalam impregnasi II nilai D maksimum pada konsentrasi Co dalam larutan garam prekursor 5,69 % (b/v) dan kandungan CoO 3,15 % (b/b) dimana nilai D pada impregnasi I lebih besar daripada impregnasi II. Aktivitas katalis Mo-Co/y-Al203 dalam hidrodesulfurisasi kerosin tertinggi dicapai pada suhu 330 °C dengan persen konversi 91,24 %. Catalyst synthesis Mo-Co/y-Al203 has been investigated by successive wet impregnation method, that was immersion of y-Al203 support in precursor salt solution (NH4)6Mo7024.41-120 and Co(NO3)2.6H20. The purpose of this process was to disperse precursor salt molecules in the y-Al203 support through adsorption and diffusion. Impregnation was followed by drying and calcination. Synthesis variables were solution initial concentrations that affected to diffusion coefficient (D) and metal oxide composition in catalyst. Time of impregnation, support weight, drying and calcinating condition in this experiment were made constant. Catalyst that was used for hydrodesfurization reaction of kerosene was catalyst with the composition Mo03 15 %w/w;CoO 4.2 % w/w by catatest unit. The result showed that in first impregnation the D value was maximum on Mo concentration in initial solution 9 % w/v and Mo03 10.39 % w/w, and in second impregnation the D maximum on Co concentration in initial solution 5.69 % w/v and Co0 3.15 % w/w. D value in first impregnation was rather than second impregnation. Maximum activity of Mo-Co/y-Al203 catalyst in hydrodesulfurization kerosene was obtained at temperature 330 °C with the conversion 91.24 %.
