Abstract
Korosi adalah penurunan tutu logam akibat reaksi elektrokimia dengan lingkungannya. Seng banyak digunakan untuk melapisi baja yang berfungsi melindungi dari sera¬ngan korosi. Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai pengaruh pH dan garam NaCl terhadap laju korosi seng pada plat baja. Hasil •penelitian menunjukan bahwa dengan adanya pengaruh pH, laju korosi seng akan men ingkat dengan turunnya pH (6,03 ; 3,83). Laju korosi minimum dicapai pada pH 10,30, dan akan naik dengan bertambahnya pH (pH > 12,10). Dengan adanya pengaruh garam NaCI, laju ko r osi maksimum dicapai pada konsentrasi 1 M. Pada konsentrasi NaC1 3 M dan 5 M laju korosi akan turun. Corrosion is quality decreasing of metal, thati caused by electrochemical reaction between the metal and its environment. zink used to coat and prevent steel from corrosion. It has been done observation about the effect of pH and NaC1 that influence the rate of 'zink corrosion on steel. The result of this experiment indicates that by effect of pH, rate of zink corrosion will be increased by the 'decr*easing of pH (6,03 ; 3,83). The corrosion rate decreases to minimum on pH 10,30. Above pH 12,10 ,the corrosion rate increases. The effect of salt NaCI indi¬cates that the rate of corrosion increases to maximum on NaCI 1 M. Within the NaCI 3 M and 5 M the rate of corro¬sion will decrease.
