Abstract
Faeniculum vulgare Miller is one of lJmbelliferae familia, which is used as medicine traditionally. In Indonesia, this plant grows well and can be found at plateau area, such as Kopeng, Kotamadya Salatiga, Jawa Tengah. Fresh sample is separated its stem, leave and fruit, then dried by air and sieved with size 144, 81 and 25 mesh. Sample trade is done the same way. Steam distilation of Foenictzlurii vulgare Miller plant showed that stem and leave of the plant didn't content essential oil, whereas from fruit part gave essen¬tial oil value 0,58 through 1,8 %. The result of the analysis showed that sample from fruit with sized 144 mesh, gave maximal product. Physical characteristic determination used refrac¬tometre showed that essential oil as the result of the isolation had index refract 1,5030 to 1,5110. Whereas • identification with Cu504 anhidrous showed that essential oil didn't content water anymore, so it can be concluded that the essential oil was pure. Essential oil characterisation with gas chromatho¬graphy showed that essential oil from agriculture fruit content 41,9669 % anethol, trade fruit : 35,0767 % and the main coinponen of agriculuture fruit Foeniculum vulgare Miller was anethol, but trade fruit wasn't anethol.
