PENGARUH STRES AKIBAT CEMAS UJIAN SEMESTER
TERHADAP JUMLAH LEUKOSIT MAHASISWA

ABSTRACT

Background: The changes in total leucocyte count is happened due to increasement of adrenaline and cortisol. Semester examination is categorized as low grade stressor. The purpose of this research was to prove the influence of stress at total leucocyte count, and if there is any influence of stress because of semester examination at total leucocyte count of the 2001th students of Medical Faculty of Diponegoro University.
Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental with one group pretest-posttest without control design. 26 subjects who fulfilled the inclusive criterias were taken their blood specimens and counted the anxiety score 30 days before and 30 minutes after the examination. Then Hb, Ht, total leucocytes and eritrocytes count were tested with calibrated automated hematology analyzer Celltac-á MEK 6318. The data were processed with SPSS 12.00 for Windows, using Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test, Paired T-test, Pearson and Spearman's correlation tests.
Results:The mean of anxiety score before the examination was 6,69±3,3 and at the time of examination was 23,69±6,7. Pearson's parametric test showed that there was not significant correlation between stress and total leucocyte count before the examination with the r and p values were 0,12 and 0,952. Spearman's correlation test showed that there was not significant correlation between stress and total leucocyte count, at the time of the examination with the r and p values were 0,373 and 0,060.
Conclusion: There was not significant correlation between stress and total leucocytes count either before or at the time of examination.

ABSTRAK

Latar belakang: Perubahan jumlah leukosit disebabkan adanya kenaikan adrenalin dan kortisol. Ujian semester tergolong stresor tahap ringan. Penelitian ini bertujuan membuktikan adanya pengaruh stres akibat cemas ujian semester pada jumlah leukosit mahasiswa FK Undip angkatan 2001.
Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasi-eksperimental dengan desain one group pretest-posttest without control. Sebanyak 26 subyek yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi, diambil bahan darah dan diperiksa skor cemasnya 30 hari sebelum dan 30 menit sesudah ujian semester. Dilakukan pemeriksaan kadar Hb, Ht, jumlah leukosit dan eritrosit dengan automated hematology analyzer Celltac-α MEK 6318 yang sudah dikalibrasi. Data diolah dengan menggunakan program SPSS 12.00 for Windows. Analisis dilakukan dengan uji beda Wilcoxon Signed Ranks test, Paired T-test, uji korelasi Pearson dan Spearman.
Hasil: Didapatkan rerata skor cemas sebelum ujian 6,69±3,3 dan saat ujian 23,69±6,7. Hasil uji statistik Pearson tidak didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara stres dengan jumlah leukosit sebelum ujian dengan nilai r dan p berturut-turut -0,12 dan 0,952. Uji Spearmans tidak didapatkan hubungan yang signifikan antara stres dengan jumlah leukosit saat ujian dengan nilai r dan p berturut-turut 0,373 dan 0,060.
Kesimpulan: Tidak ada hubungan yang bermakna antara stres dengan jumlah leukosit, baik sebelum maupun saat ujian semester.
