Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is intended to empirically examined the effect of participation on user satisfaction of information systems development with five contingency factors, which are: task complexity, system complexity, top management support, user influence and user- developer communication as moderating variable. This research was done in 41 manufacture industry big scale companies in Pekanbaru - Riau. Questionnaires was spread to 205 end user (41 x 5,. The analysis tools used in this research were tinier Regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (AfRA). Based on The responses from 85 respondents, this research revealed that user participation has a positive and significant effect on user satisfaction. This study also reveals that, of five contingency factors task complexity and system complexity act as moderating variable in the relationship between participation and user satisfaction of information system development. However, top management support, user influence, and user- developer communication did not act as moderating variables, but as independent predictors. This research hopefully can help to extend investigation of user participation to include some of the contingency factors that might help determine , when and how much user partisipation are needed. Keywords : User partisipation, Contingency theory, User satisfaction, Task Complexity, System complexity, Top management support, User influence, and User- Developer communication.
