Abstract

Palestine has been occupied by Israel since 1948 which is means 74 years until now. In this case, in relation to media and communication, it is hoped that media could play an important role in presenting facts and evidence about the struggle and patriotism of the Palestinian people during the war. The purpose of this study is to explore how Palestine TV media reported Patriotism during the Israeli occupation aggression in April-May 2021. This study uses the media agenda setting theory as a theoretical lens with the first level. There were 20 news reports analyzed in this study with a total news duration of 181 minutes on Palestine TV through content analysis. The findings derived from the results of text analysis, namely news programs, types of news and news topics. The findings show five main themes that represent patriotism in Palestine TV's including 1) the Palestinian struggle during aggression, 2) cultural and historical representation, 3) the role of government in international forums, and4) the role of various Palestinian defenders. The dominant narrative themes emerged on the Palestine TV shows that the Palestinian people will never give up even though they have lost their homes, land or property, and families. Moreover, they will stand up to protect Palestine as their homeland with love and peace. The findings of this study reveal that the news programs broadcast on Palestine TV have presented truth-oriented news and uphold the values of patriotism, politics, culture, and history. The results of this study also show the support of "Palestine TV" to convey the truth about the Israeli occupation carried out against Palestinians. Thus, it can be concluded that Palestine TV has succeeded in presenting issues or facts that can attract public attention through the perspective of a media that aims to influence the public in this case, namely patriotism.
