Faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University. The Advisor Lina Rosliana, S.S., M.Hum. This thesis analyzes the process of adding phonemes in Japanese and Indonesian. Then identify the similarities and differences in the process of adding phonemes in Japanese and Indonesian. The addition of phonemes (on in tenka) is the appearance of a new phoneme (sound) in the word caused by morphophonemic process. The Japanese data were obtained from official websites and Nihongo Indonesiago Jiten Dictionary. The Indonesian data were obtained from official websites and Senarai Kata Serapan dalam Bahasa Indonesia Dictionary. This research aims to explain about the comparison of the process of adding phonemes between Japanese and Indonesian. Data collection methods used simak method with catat technique, and the analysis method used agih method, then data analysis presented by the informal method. The result of this research is the process of adding phonemes in Japanese and Indonesian has similarities that are, rarely the addition of phonemes at the beginning of words, the addition of phonemes at the beginning and end of words only occurs in loanwords, and there is the addition of vowel phonemes and consonant phonemes at the end of the words. Some of the differences are, there is a difference in classification of phoneme addition. Then the addition of phonemes at the beginning of words in Japanese loanwords is only in the form of vowel phonemes whilst in Indonesian loanwords it can be in the form of vowel phonemes and consonant phonemes. The next difference in the addition of phonemes in the middle of Japanese words in the form of intransitive verb (jidoushi), transitive verb (tadoushi), compound words, and loanwords (gairaigo) whilst in Indonesian only in the form of affixation and loanwords. Then there are differences in the causes of the addition of phonemes between Japanese and Indonesian loanwords. Keywords: Morphophonemic, On In Tenka, Phoneme, Contrastive Analysis.
