Abstract

ABSTRACT Solehah, Dinni Nur. 2020. "Irony in Illocutionary Actions and Violation of Cooperation Principles in the Drama Rich Man Poor Woman". Thesis, Japanese Language and Culture Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University. Supervisor Reny Wiyatasari, S.S., M. Hum. The purpose of this study is to determine the types of illocutionary speech acts that contain irony in the drama Rich Man Poor Woman and to know the types of cooperation violations that exist based on the data that has been found. The author uses the drama Rich Man Poor Woman to obtain data. The data were obtained using the observation method using advanced techniques such as record and note. Furthermore, in data analysis using contextual analysis methods. The data that has been obtained were analyzed by describing the context in the dialogue first. Then look for irony in illocutionary speech acts, as well as violations of maxims that occur. The results of this study, the authors found 15 data containing irony in illocutionary speech acts, as well as 14 data on maxims violations based on these data. The illocutionary speech act that most often contains irony is the type of assertive speech act. Meanwhile, the most violation of maxims is method maxims.
