Abstract

Maulia, Andi Tenri Fauziyyah. 2020. The Meaning of Diversification of Coffee Shop Names in Tembalang (Semantic Study). Indonesian Literature Department, Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Diponegoro University, Semarang. Advisor I: Suharyo, M.Hum. Advisor II: Riris Tiani, S.S., M.Hum. This research, entitled "The Meaning of Diversification of Coffee Shop Names in Tembalang (Semantic Study)" with object coffee shop names in Tembalang aims to describe the naming and meaning of the coffee shop names in Tembalang. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with three stages which are data collection, data analysis, and the results of analysis . The data collection method used in this study was the observation and note technique. The Research result learns that there are 7 types of names found in 30 coffee shop in Tembalang, (1) first 9 data found based on the owner/founder, (2) 1 data found based on ingredients names, (3) 2 data found based on shortening names, ( 4) 7 data found based on the similarity, (5) 7 data found based on the characteristic, (6) 2 data found based on new names, and (7) 2 data found based on the places. The type of naming that is most commonly found is the type of naming based on owner/founder. In the names of coffee shops in Tembalang, there are lexical meanings contained in the naming of the coffee shops, including (1) 15 direct meanings and (2) 15 figurative meanings. For grammatical meaning, almost all data undergo a composition process, namely as many as 29 data, while those that do not undergo grammatical process are 1 data.
