Abstract
Every year, the divorce rate in Indonesia is increasing, there are many underlying factors such as the economy, domestic violence, infidelity, and so on. However, along with the development of the mass media industry, the triggering factors for divorce are increasingly complex, one of which is the use of television mass media as an alternative to entertainment and information needs. The presence of the infotainment of Silet which is rife in announcing the artist's divorce makes the divorce trend more exposed to the public space. Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam which is nicknamed Serambi Mekkah is one of the provinces with a high divorce rate based on data from the Syar'iyah Court. This study aimed to see the influence between the intensity of watching divorce news on the razor blade infotainment, the intensity of media literacy activities, and the intensity of interpersonal communication between husband and wife on attitudes towards divorce. This research uses Phillip Palmgreen's Uses and Gratifications theory. The research sample was 110 people from three villages in Samatiga District, West Aceh Regency. The results showed that there was an influence between the intensity of watching divorce news on the razor blade infotainment, the intensity of media literacy activities, and the intensity of interpersonal communication between husband and wife on attitudes towards divorce (R = 0.891; Adjusted R = 78.8%). However, the findings show that husband-wife interpersonal communication contributes to a greater effect on attitudes towards divorce. The author's suggestion to media industry activists should anticipate the negative influence of the mass media given the massive use of television in society, such as producing content according to journalistic principles, not solely for the political economy of the media. Suggestions for the government to continue to optimize media literacy activities. Suggestions for the community should be to build Intimate Relationships by maximizing interpersonal communication between husband and wife to minimize conflicts that can lead to divorce. In addition, people must be selective in choosing viewing programs and be proactive in media literacy activities.
