Abstract

Yulindawati, Arifiana. 2020. “Social Criticism in Webtoon Comics Hari Berarti “Sarimin” Episode by Naga Terbang (Literary Sociology Study)”. Thesis S-1 Indonesian Literature Faculty Of Humanities Diponegoro University of Semarang. Thesis guide Drs. Moh. Muzakka, M. Hum., and Khothibul Umam, S.S., M. Hum. The material object in this research is comic Hari Berarti “Sarimin” episode by Naga Terbang. The formal object is social criticism analysis in webtoon comics with a sociological literary approach. The purpose of this research are to describe: (1) the composing elements of a comic in webtoon comics Hari Berarti “Sarimin” episode, and (2) social criticism contained in webtoon comics Hari Berarti “Sarimin” episode. The method used in this research is the literature method with the steps of collecting data with written sources, analyzing data with repeated and thorough reading, and describing the results of the analysis descriptively. Based on that has been done, can be conclude that the composing elements of a comic consists of speech bubble, panel, and image. Speech bubble are used to capture speech and sound representations, panels in webtoon comics Hari Berarti have borders and panels that aren’t outlined, and the image in webtoon comics Hari Berarti have hybrid drawing style and cartoon drawing style. Then the results of the analysis of social criticism in the webtoon comics Hari Berarti contains criticism of the behaviour of people who believes in spirits, criticism of the domestic violence, criticism of the affair, criticism of the corrupt behaviour, and criticism of gambling and drinking alcohol behaviour.
