Abstract
ABSTRACT Larasati, Tia. 2020. "The Embodiment of Meaning of Song Lyrics in the Bootleg Album by Kenshi Yonezu". Thesis, Japanese Language and Culture Study Program, Diponegoro University, Semarang. This thesis examines the meaning contained in the song lyrics in Kenshi Yonezu's Bootleg album. This study aims to describe the meaning of the song lyrics on the Bootleg album by using five song titles as research data. The used theory is the semiotic theory proposed by Michael Riffaterre. This research uses structuralism method. Based on analysis data, it can be concluded that Kenshi Yonezu in writing song lyrics on the Bootleg album used an indirect expression in the form of a displacing of meaning which includes simile, epic similes, metaphors and allegories. Asside from that, Kenshi Yonezu also uses distorting of meaning caused by ambiguity and contradiction. The five song lyrics, although meaningfully they can form a continuous story line, it does not make the five songs in the same hipogram or the five songs do not become hypograms for each other. Keywords: Song Lyrics, Semiotics Riffaterre, Kenshi Yonezu
