SKIZOFRENIA TOKOH YOUNG HYE DALAM NOVEL VEGETARIAN KARYA HAN KANG (KAJIAN PSIKOLOGI SASTRA)

Abstract

This study use an analysis of the symptomps of schizophrenia on Young Hye’s character in Vegetarian novel by Han Kang as formal object with psychology of literature perspective. The material objects are Vegetarian novel by Han Kang. Qualitative descriptive method is used in this research using three stages, which are data collection of sources, data analysis, and explanation the result of analysis The theory in this study is structural theory to describe the structural elements of fiction story in Vegetarian novel and schizophrenia theory to describe the symptomps of schizophrenia. The result of the structural analyze from Vegetarian novel shows that this novel has one main character, Young Hye, along with eight supporting characters. The settings applied include place, time, and social-culture. The plot applied is regressive. Psychology of literature is used to connect between literature and psychology. The result of the symptomps of schizophrenia is to give knowledge about positive symptoms, negative symptoms, and cognitive symptoms. The positive symptomps of schizophrenia in Young Hye’s character are hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking. The negative symptomps of schizophrenia in Young Hye’s character are anhedonia, avolition, alogia, and flat/blunted effect. Meanwhile the cognitive symptomps of schizophrenia in Young Hye’s character may have severe problems with cognitive (thinking) tasks. Keywords : Vegetarian, structural, symptom, schizophrenia
