Thesis, Departement of Japanese, Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, Advisor Yuliani Rahmah, S.Pd, M.Hum This research title is “Theater adaptation process from visual novel to 2.5 dimensional musical theater MANKAI STAGE A3! Spring & Summer 2018”. The purpose of this research is to seaarch the narative elements in visual novel A3! and to explain adaptation process to 2.5 dimensional musical theater. The method used in this research is literature study and a comparative literary approach is used to find differences and similarities in the adaptation process. The theory used in this research are structure narrative, adaptation and ecranization. Structure narrative film is used to look for narrative elements in visual novel A3!, adaptation and ecranization is used to analyze changes that occur in the process adaptation from visual novels to 2.5 dimensional musical theater.. The results of this research are the discovery of changes in the narrative elements that occur during adaptation process. The changes that occur include the reduction, addition, and several changes in the time sequence and story actors.
