Abstract

ABSTRACT Nurhayati, Ria. 2019. “Relation Meaning of Adjectiva Tsurai, Setsunai, and Kurushii”. Thesis, Department of Japanese Language and Culture, faculty of Humanities. Diponegoro University. The Advisor S.I Trahutami, S.S., M.Hum. This thesis discusses “Relation Meaning of Verb Tsurai, Setsunai, and Kurushii”. The writer discussed the title for thesis because those three words have a same meaning relation that is “sakit or menderita” in Indonesian. So the writer want to find out the similarities and the differences among those adjectives and the writer tried to take a substitution analysis to find out the relation meaning from those three words. The step taken by the writer for this research are collecting the data, analyzed data, and presented descriptively. Because the similar meaning of these tsurai, setsunai and kurushii adjectives which is “hurt or painful” make it interchangeable. However, these adjectives have differences make these verbs can not be substituted each other in sentences. Keywords: adjective, tsurai, setsunai, kurushii, synonym
