Abstract
Widya Hapsari Nur Safitri. 2020. The names in the Sesajen tradition of the Obong community of Kalang Village of Lumansari, Kendal Regency. Thesis (S1) of Indonesian literary Sciences. Faculty of Humanities. Undip Semarang. Supervisor: Dr. Suyanto, M.Si., dan Drs. Suharyo, M.Hum. The tradition of Obong is a tradition believed in by the Kalang people as a memorial to the death by burning various kinds of offerings. Therefore, this study aims to explain the lexical meaning, cultural significance and cultural value in the names of the offerings of Obong traditions. The theory used in this study is Ethnolinguistic while the data collection methods used are observation and in-depth interview techniques. In the Obong tradition, offerings are only available in four processions and one stopover. This research data is qualitative that is analyzed by using a descriptive method of ethnographic. Data analysis results are described informally. Found from the results of the study are the names of the offerings of Obong traditions as follows (1) in the procession Andheg-andheg, There are 16 names of “Isine Kandhi” offerings in the form of ‘wiji-wijian’ to be planted, (2) in the salvation of core families, there are 9 names of Uborampe in the form of ‘Sega and Lawuh’, (3) in the Aweh Mangan, there are 8 names of offerings and 18 names of Uborampe in the form of ‘sandhangan, Sega, Beras, Lawuh and so forth’, (4) in the Omah Kajang, there are 7 names of offerings in the form of ‘gedhang, ndog bebek, and so forth’, and (5) in the procession Obong, there are 5 names of offerings in the form of a collection of all the offerings from the early to the last procession to be burn (so-called Obong). The value of culture in the Obong tradition consists of the value of human relations with God, human relationships with nature, human relations with society, human relationships with other human beings, and human relationships with themselves.
