PEMILIHAN VARIAN KODE MASYARAKAT TUTUR JAWA DI MESUJI RAYA SUMATERA SELATAN (KAJIAN SOSIOLINGUISTIK)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perihal pemilihan kode pada masyarakat tutur Jawa di Mesuji Raya, Ogan Komering Ilir, Sumatera Selatan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif. Tahapan pertama yang dilakukan adalah penyediaan data. Data pada penelitian ini didapat melalui pengamatan lapangan (field research) dengan menggunakan metode simak dan teknik cakap. Pengkategorian data didasarkan pada ranah pemilihan kode yang diteliti. Tahap selanjutnya yaitu analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode padan ekstralingual. Metode padan ekstralingual yaitu merupakan metode yang digunakan untuk mengkaji atau menganalisis data yang berkaitan dengan hal-hal di luar bahasa yaitu berkaitan dengan konteks. Hasil dari penelitian ini memperlihatkan bahwa (1) varian kode yang ditemukan yaitu berbentuk bahasa, ragam, dan tingkat tutur. Kode berbentuk bahasa berupa kode BJ, BI, BMP, bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Arab, dalam bentuk ragam yaitu ragam usaha (consultative style) dan ragam santai (casual style), dalam bentuk tingkat tutur terdapat kode ngoko dan krama dalam bahasa Jawa, (2) situasi multilingual pada masyarakat Mesuji Raya dilakukan pemilihan kode dalam kode tunggal yang terjadi pada kode bahasa Jawa dalam tingkat tutur ngoko, pemilihan kode dengan cara alih kode dan campur kode terjadi pada empat kode dasar, yakni dengan kode BJ, kode BI, kode BMP, dan ngoko (3) fenomena plurilingualisme dari empat ranah tersebut didominasi oleh penggunaan kode BJ dan BI, (4) faktor- faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan kode adalah situasi resmi dan tidak resmi, partisipan (kemampuan bahasa penutur, usia, status sosial, orang ketiga, latar belakang etnis dan hubungan partisipan), topik pembicaraan resmi dan tidak resmi, tujuan tuturan yaitu seperti menghormati lawan tutur dan menasehati. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kode BJ masih menjadi kode pilihan yang dominan digunakan oleh masyarakat Jawa di Mesuji Raya, meskipun penggunaannya sering dipengaruhi oleh kode lain. Secara umum, tidak terjadi kendala dalam situasi plurilingualisme pada masyarakat Jawa di Kecamatan Mesuji Raya, dan hubungan partisipan sangat menentukan kode yang digunakan oleh masyarakat Jawa Mesuji Raya dalam berinteraksi terutama pada saat berinteraksi dengan masyarakat non-Jawa. This study aims to describe the choice of code in the Javanese speech society in the Mesuji Raya, Ogan Komering Ilir, South Sumatra. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The first step taken is the provision of data. The data in this study were obtained through field research using the method of simak and cakap techniques. Categorizing data is based on the domain of code selection received. The next step is data analysis which is performed using the padan ekstralingual method. padan ekstralingual method is a method used to study or analyze data relating to matters outside the language that is related to the context. The results of this study show that (1) variants of the code found are in the form of language, style, and speech level. Code in the form of language in the form of BJ, BI, BMP, English and Arabic codes, in the form of various types of consultative style and casual style, in the form of speech level there are ngoko and krama codes in Javanese, (2 ) the multilingual situation in the Mesuji Raya community was done by selecting a code in a single code that occurred in the ngoko speech level of BJ code, code selection by code switching and code mixing occurred in four basic codes, namely with the BJ code, BI code, BMP code, and ngoko (3) the phenomenon of plurilingualism from the four domains is dominated by the use of BJ and BI codes, (4) the factors that influence code selection are official and informal situations, participants (speaking language skills, age, social status, third person, ethnic background and participant relations), formal and informal conversation topics, speech objectives such as respecting interlocutors and advising. From these results it can be concluded that the BJ code is still the dominant choice code used by Javanese people in Mesuji Raya, even though its use is often influenced by other codes. In general, there were no obstacles in the situation of plurilingualism in the Javanese community in Mesuji Raya, and the relationship of participants largely determined the code used by the Mesuji Raya Javanese community in interacting especially when interacting with non-Javanese Society.
