Abstract

Studi etnografi komunikasi upacara pernikahan etnis Tionghoa Peranakan mendeskripsikan komponen komunikasi upacara pernikahan etnis Tionghoa. Selain itu, peneliti juga meneliti tindak tutur yang digunakan dalam upacara serta bagaimana hubungan antarkomponen komunikasi. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti melakukan observasi partisipan perekaman pernikahan di Klenteng Kebon Jeruk, Semarang. Dari analisis ditemukan bahwa upacara pernikahan etnis Tionghoa memiliki 8 komponen komunikasi yang terdiri dari 1) Setting pagi hari di Klenteng, dengan setting lingual Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin, Jawa 2) Participants pandita, pembantu pandita, mempelai pria, mempelai wanita, orang tua mempelai, tamu undangan dan meja upacara lengkap dengan dupa, sesajian serta patung dewa dewi 3) Ends menunjuk hormat pada Yang Kuasa, leluhur dan orang tua 4) Act sequences: pembuka, isi dan penutup 5) Key hikmat dan sakral 6) Instrument yang tergambar dalam upacara ini adalah komunikasi lisan tatap muka. 7) Norm tergambar dalam peragaan simbol upacara ini adalah komunikasi lisan tatap muka yang dikendalikan oleh pandita 8) Genre upacara pernikahan. Komponen ends mendominasi adanya genre peristiwa upacara pernikahan dilihat dari ketidakberadaan ends yang akan merubah genre upacara dan komponen lain. This ethnographic study of communication investigates Chinese ethnic marriage ceremony. The purpose of this study is to describe the communication components of Chinese wedding ceremony including speech acts in the wedding ceremony and and the relationship among the communication communication components in the Chinese ethnic marriage ceremony. In collecting data, the researcher conducted observation by recording the wedding ceremony in Kebon Jeruk Temple, Semarang. Besides, the researcher interviewed The Temple’s Priest and the head of the temple. The analysis shows that the Chinese wedding ceremony has communication components consisting of 1) Setting in the temple in the morning using Indonesian, Javanese and Mandarin 2) Pandita, ceremony attendants, groom, bride, parents of the bride and groom, invited guests and ceremonial table completed with incense, offerings and gods and goddesses as the participants 3) Ends designate respect for the Almighty, ancestors and parents 4) Act sequences: opening, content and closing 5) Keys wisdom and sacred 6) Instruments depicted in this ceremony are face-to-face oral communications. 7) Norm in this event is controlled by pandita 8) Genre of marriage ceremonies. The relationship among the components shows that ‘ends’ dominates the genre of the wedding ceremony seen from the absence of ends that will change the genre of the ceremony and other components.
