Abstract

This research is motivated by the interest of researcher in the phenomenon of the defeat of Islmamic State of Iraq Syiria (ISIS) which leaves a problem of the former ISIS to be repatriated or not to their respective countries. Previous research shows that there is a role for the media in providing information exposure about ISIS which is motivated by ideology and media interest. So that the role of mass media in preaching ISIS is very meaningful to give an overview about that group. This research wants to show how Indonesia mass media especially which has a secular and nationalist ideology has made framing the return of the former ISIS to Indonesia. The subject of this research is Harian Kompas and Koran Tempo. This research aims to reveal framing about returning ISIS to Indonesia in Harian Kompas and Koran Tempo as the media responsible for providing extensive information to the public society. Through the framing analysis method conducted by researcher in Harian Kompas dan Koran Tempo, the result of this research show that both media has carried out press social responsibility to provide information to the public by news framing coverage based on nationalistic and securitizaion differently. The difference in the framing by Harian Kompas and Koran Tempo can be explained by the ethic of journalism approach.
