Farmer’s Communication Behavior In Accessing Information The Cultivation Of Banana In Industrial Revolution 4.0

Abstract

Agriculture information plays an important role in the agricultural sector. The information is also used as the main source for making decisions from upstream to downstream. Farmers can access information using both formal and informal sources. Farmers decision in accessing information that is appropriate to their needs and also according to reliable sources are certainly influenced by farmers communication behavior. This study aims to analyze and desccribe the farmers communication behavior and barriers of farmer in accessing information the cultivation of banana so the farmers can compete in the global market. This research was carried out in December 2019-Januari 2020 in the Bareng Mukti farmer’s group was carried out in Ponggok Hamlet, Sidomulyo Village, Bambanglipuro Districk, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study case a survey method obtained from ten informants from active member and administrators. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative analysis with Miles and Huberman model analysis methods. The results showed that farmers were still involved in accessing information of banana cultivation and the obstacle was due to the lack of awareness of farmers about the latest communication technology.
